TMNet Streamyx these days known as simply Streamyx is the key internet service provider in Malaysia.It is the principal wired broadband service provider in Malaysia and is a subsidiary of Malaysia's primary telecomunication provider , TM Bhd. Notably TM Net offers its internet Digital Subscriber Line broadband internet under the brandname Streamyx.
TM Net was established in 1995 by Telekom Malaysia Bhd (which eventually transformed into TM Berhad) as part of Malaysia National Broadband Plan. It was first started as a trial connecting TMnet to COINS.The earliest commercial trial run of xDSL by TM was done by means of a service known as HiS that was deployed jointly with Ericsson in 1999.
The original Streamyx internet broadband service was brought out in April 2001 at speeds of 384kbps.
In 06 2007, TMnet commences the high speed 4mbpsbroadband internet service which is currently, is the fastest speed available.
10 December 2009, Streamyx announced a new 15mbps fiber optic service under the High Speed Broadband (HSBB) and is estimated to be released by 03 2010.
At the moment the Malaysian internet infrastructure have been determined as not meeting the current specifications as needed by basic web applications such as YouTube, Skype and therefore concludes that Malaysia may not ultimately harvest the benefits of broadband service.
The HSBB or known as High Speed Broadband initiative was designed to better align Malaysia internet infrastructure to that of a developed nation.Streamyx Dns
